Dr. Sterman offers these surgeries for breast enhancement:
Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S. It can give women with small or unevenly sized breasts a fuller, firmer, better-proportioned look through the placement of implants in the breast. Women may elect to undergo breast augmentation for many different medical and aesthetic motivations, including balancing breast size and compensating for reduced breast mass after pregnancy or surgery. Breast enlargement may be combined with other procedures such as a breast lift for more satisfying results, liposuction, abdominoplasty, or almost any other aesthetic surgery procedure
Breast implants are silicone shells filled with either saline (salt water) or silicone gel (recently approved by the FDA). They are placed behind each breast, underneath either breast tissue or the chest wall muscle. Breast augmentation procedures last one to two hours and are typically performed with general anesthesia. After breast enhancement surgery the patient’s bustline may be increased by one or more cup sizes.

Large breasts can cause pain, improper posture, rashes, breathing problems, skeletal deformities such as neck, back and shoulder pain, and low self-esteem. The medical term for this is symptomatic macromastia. Breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammoplasty, is usually done to provide relief from these symptoms and improve the shape and appearance of the breasts. Performed under general anesthesia, the two- to four-hour procedure removes fat and glandular tissue and tightens skin to produce smaller, lighter breasts that are in a healthier proportion to the rest of the body. In certain cases, breast reduction surgery can be performed with liposuction alone. In many cases, breast reduction can be covered by insurance.

When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, her world is turned upside down. Fortunately, in cases where a mastectomy or removal of the breast is recommended, women today have the option to have their breasts reconstructed and restored with many different techniques.
Breast reconstruction restores a natural, symmetrical appearance to the bosom, maintains body proportion, allows clothes to fit better, and most important of all, boosts self-confidence for women who have lost one or both breasts to mastectomy or who lack breasts due to a congenital (such as Poland's syndrome, or amastia) or developmental abnormality. Reconstructive plastic surgeons such as Dr. Sterman strive to create a new breast and nipple that resemble the woman's natural breast as closely as possible in shape, size and position. Methods of reconstruction can use the woman's own tissue, such as a TRAM flap, lattissimus flap, or saline or slicone breast implants.

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is performed to return youthful shape and lift to breasts that have sagged as a result of weight loss, pregnancy, loss of the skin’s natural elasticity or simply the effects of aging and gravity. The breast lift procedure can also reduce areolar size (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), and it can be combined with breast augmentation with breast implants for added firmness, volume or size. It is usually done under general anesthesia, and lasts from one to three hours.
